I am an artist, illustrator, and educator. I can't remember a time when I wasn't drawing or painting. Even as a young girl, friends an family loved watching me draw and see my subjects come to life. I find myself drawing everything, paying close attention to the tiny details other artists prefer to leave out.
My art kept maturing as I did, but at the age of 14, I was hit with the news that I had Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, a crippling disease. I didn't realize what it could do to me, but I was determined to continue creating art. I continued on, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from West Texas State University in 1985.
My favorite medium is pencil, but I enjoy the challenge of watercolor. I have recently begun experimenting with colored pencils as well. My favorite subjects are people because of their diverse character, though lately I find myself being drawn to other textural subjects.
I have done commissioned artwork for many years, and has clients from all over the United States, and as far away as Oman, Germany, and Bahrain.
Currently I teach art classes part-time for El Paso Community College. I am blessed to continually have great students who enjoy learning and become extended family.
I am always on the look-out for art waiting to be created, carrying a camera with me almost always. The people and scenery around me fascinate me no matter where I am. I was born and raised in southwest Kansas, and in 2001, married and became a military spouse. Our family has lived in El Paso since 2004, where I quickly became involved in the art scene. I am a member of El Paso Art Association and Rio Bravo Watercolorists.
